Overview
Changemakers is a full-stack platform for connecting people driving social and community initiatives. I contributed across frontend and backend — user accounts, content flows, and the multilingual experience.
The Problem
The platform needed to serve an international audience from a single codebase, with consistent design, localized content, and flows that scale as the community grows.
Architecture
Localized frontend
Next.js with locale-prefixed routes and translation dictionaries loaded per request.
Auth
Session-based auth with protected routes for member-only features.
API layer
Typed endpoints for profiles, initiatives, and content, shared across locales.
Data
PostgreSQL schema separating translatable content from core entities for easy localization.
Key Features & My Role
- Localized routing and content, with English as the default locale
- User accounts, profiles, and personalized dashboards
- Content and initiative listing flows with moderation hooks
- Responsive UI built on a shared design system

Outcomes & Results
- Delivered a single codebase serving multiple languages.
- Established shared UI patterns that sped up later feature work.
- Improved consistency across member-facing flows.
Reflection
Localization is an architecture decision, not a string-replacement task. Separating translatable content from entities early made adding languages cheap.
