Overview
A personal project exploring a matrimonial platform — rich member profiles, preference-based search, and a respectful interest and messaging flow with a focus on privacy.
The Problem
Matrimonial sites are often noisy and weak on privacy. I wanted to model a calmer experience where members control what they share and who sees it.
Architecture
Frontend
React single-page app with multi-step profile forms and a filterable search view.
API layer
Express REST API for profiles, search, and interests.
Auth & privacy
JWT auth with per-field visibility rules applied on the server before data is returned.
Data
MongoDB documents for profiles, preferences, and interest requests with search indexes.

Outcomes & Results
- Built a complete profile-to-interest flow end to end.
- Learned to enforce privacy rules server-side rather than in the UI.
- Practiced designing indexed, multi-filter search queries.
Reflection
Privacy has to be enforced where the data lives. Hiding fields in the UI is not protection — the API must never return what the viewer can't see.
